2012 PAC Spotlight: Student Presenter

Keving Kung – a graduate student in biological engineering at MIT – will be presenting his project titled “Takachar: from Organic Waste to Charcoal” at the 2012 Poverty Action Conference.

In his application to present, Kevin states that “Takachar works with local waste-sorting youth groups in Kibera to harness the untapped value in organic waste, by turning this waste into charcoal…We are currently establishing a pilot project with youth groups in Kibera, and together with the local residents and the University of Nairobi engineering students, we are working on overcoming several challenges in the charcoal-making process, including consistent waste-sourcing, efficient pyrolysis, and proper marketing.”

Kevin’s is just one of many student presenters we will be highlighting in the run-up to the 2012 Poverty Action Conference.

If you are a high school, college or graduate student looking for an opportunity to present your work to a panel of experts, then register to present at the 2012 PAC.
