The guiding principle of the Poverty Action Conference (PAC) is to place students and their work (in the area of economic development) center stage. We do this by providing students with a venue for sharing their work with not only other students but also experts in their area. These experts take on the role of educators – imparting their experiential wisdom onto students by listening to their presentations, encouraging and critiquing their efforts, and offering presentations about their own efforts. Keynote speakers address the larger picture – for example, the fundamental forces underlying poverty, our motivations to engage, and the most effective way to engage.
